Susan was admitted to the Maine Bar and New Jersey Bar in 1995. She was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 1998. Previous to moving to South Carolina, Susan clerked for the Honorable Helen E. Hoens, Superior Court, Civil Division, Somerset County, New Jersey and practiced law in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Susan is admitted to practice before the state courts of Maine, the state and federal courts of New Jersey, the state and federal courts of South Carolina and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Susan’s work focuses on school law, including teacher employment and certification issues, employment discrimination, school funding and charter schools. She has represented clients in teacher dismissal hearings before school boards and on appeal to State Circuit Court and the South Carolina Court of Appeals. She has handled employment discrimination matters before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the State Human Affairs Commission as well as represented clients in matters before the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce and before the State Ethics Commission. Susan has extensive experience in administrative law serving as an administrative hearing officer for the South Carolina Department of Health & Environmental Control and the South Carolina Department of Social Services.
Susan grew up in Somerset, New Jersey and is a graduate of Franklin Township Public Schools. Her sister is a life-long educator and she has many family members who are teachers. Susan and her husband have two children who attend school in Richland School District One.
